Wonder-ful

Sypnosis: Based on the New York Times bestseller, WONDER tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time.

A story brought to life from the creation by author Raquel J. Palacio, Wonder is a beautiful take on a young boys struggle to fit in when he was born to stand out. Child actor Jacob Tremblay delivers an earnest role as Auggie, stealing not only the hearts, but the understanding of all viewers. Julia Roberts delivers an outstanding performance as Auggie’s mother, not only relating to all mothers in the audience who only want the best for their kids, but reminding us all about the drive and determination it takes to raise a child. Owen Wilson returns to the big screen as Auggie’s father, perfectly portraying the devotion between a father and his son, and warming the hearts of the entire audience with his touching and empathetic performance. And finally, Izabela Vidovic gives us a refreshing take on the story as Auggie’s older sister, not only giving us all perspective on another side of the story, but delivering a well-balanced and wonderful performance.

The story itself is wholesome and hopeful, sparking interest and conversation on a very real and current problem. The messages conveyed through this film are that of sacrifice, love, and appreciating everyone around you regardless of how they look,  which is something we all could use a little more of.
