On this day, history was made. The first ever STEAM awards ceremony took place on February 2, 2018. Many students walked the stage that day with smiles across their faces. “It was exciting and it felt good to get recognition.”, Grace Ferguson explains about the awards.

A total of 72 students received awards. 17 of them earned Honor Roll, with a GPA of 3.0-3.49. 30 students earned a 3.5-3.99 GPA, receiving the High Honor Roll award. And the other 35 students earned Principal’s Honor Roll, with an outstanding GPA of 4.0.

As the STEAM counselor, Mrs. Arteaga hopes for better results as time progresses. But she is very happy with her student’s performance. She believes that in order for students to improve, they should use the resources available to monitor their grades. After interviewing Mrs. Arteaga, we received a few words of wisdom, “Whether that’s getting on to the honor roll or getting up on to the high honor roll, I think just being aware of what your grades are and staying on top of that is a really important step.” And for those students who are right on the border, you can always go talk to a counselor for guidance.

STEAM as a whole would like to thank Mrs. Arteaga for making this possible for all the students. And we give a special thanks to the STEAM teachers, Mrs. Baker, Mr. Arteaga, Mr. Stout, and Coach Tedesco. Last but not least, congratulations to all the students who earned an award!
